Location
Lesvos Island (Greece)
Introduction

Join us for a week of immersive yoga in the peaceful and preserved setting of Thermi, on the island of Lesvos. Led by two passionate and experienced teachers - Léo from Gati Yoga and Elsa from Yogazaz - this retreat is an invitation to go beyond your daily yoga practice to explore meditation, pranayama (breath control), philosophical concepts, and other yoga practices (mudras, mantras, and kriyas) in greater depth.

Throughout the week, you will explore a wide variety of yoga styles — hatha, vinyasa, rocket, ashtanga, jivamukti, yin, nidra… — taught with an accessible and pedagogical approach.

Originally from Thessaloniki and now based in Brussels, Elsa has been teaching various yoga practices for several years (Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Rocket, pre/postnatal, Menopause Yoga, etc.) with a particular focus on inclusivity and adapting classes to every body, every age, and every journey. Based in Lesvos since 2019 but originally from Belgium, Léo — a true lover of Greek culture — is passionate about Ashtanga, which he loves to teach his students, in addition to other more creative practices like Vinyasa or gentler ones like Yin.

More than just a yoga retreat, this week is an invitation to reconnect with yourself through the elements: the sea, the wind, the sun, and the wild landscapes of Lesvos. In this inspiring environment, yoga becomes a space for transformation, presence, and union — with oneself, others, and nature.

Throughout this week and the cultural discoveries on the program, you will also be immersed in the richness of Greece and its traditions, while exploring the philosophy of Yoga from a new perspective.

8:00-10:00 Yoga & Meditation

10:30-11:30 Brunch

Each day, you will have the opportunity to enjoy two in-depth yoga practices, within the warm atmosphere of "Villa Daphné et Chloé," a century-old building restored as a hotel and retreat center. Yoga classes will be held either indoors or outdoors, in a covered space nestled among the olive trees, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural environment of Lesbos.

To complement these classes, we will offer several theoretical and practical yoga workshops, allowing you to discover the practice of yoga beyond what is taught in conventional studio classes (meditation, pranayamas, kriyas, mudras, mantras, advanced postures, etc.).

To allow you to discover Lesvos and Greek culture, the program also includes 3 planned outings to local tavernas (restaurants), a visit to traditional thermal baths, a guided tour about the island's history, and a cooking class.

All proposed activities are optional, as this retreat is, first and foremost, a well-deserved break for you! The program therefore includes ample free time for you to relax, read, enjoy the sea and the island's natural beauty, and connect with your inner self.

Your facilitators

Leo, a certified yoga instructor, is passionate about movement, adventure, and the transformative power of yoga. His journey began in 2016 when the practice became an escape from the pressures of urban life and a demanding job. Yoga thus became a transformative path that not only helped him through difficult times but also brought him strength and resilience. In 2021, Leo decided to pursue Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher training in Andalusia to expand his expertise.

His teaching style harmoniously blends sequences inspired by Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Hot Yoga. As an avid climber, Leo incorporates his love for climbing and hiking into the retreats he organizes, and his yoga teaching style is also shaped by his travels and his love for nature. More recently, Leo completed a mindfulness course out of personal interest and to guide his students toward greater inner peace. His unwavering passion for Greece, particularly for Lesbos where he spent his summers as a child, reflects his deep connection to this island, which he is eager for you to discover!

With 15 years of yoga practice behind her, Elsa decided to deepen her knowledge of yoga philosophy and its benefits for the body and mind by completing a 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga teacher training in Brussels in 2019. Since then, she has graduated and also teaches other types of yoga such as Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, pre/postnatal yoga, and yoga for menopause.

Practicing a wide range of sports alongside yoga and a daily meditative practice, Elsa firmly believes it is crucial to exercise the mind as much as the body to reduce stress, feel good in one's body, be confident, focused, and grounded.

Drawing on her experience teaching yogis of various levels and ages, Elsa has developed an instructive and compassionate approach that focuses on breathwork, interoception, deep muscle strengthening, alignment, and joint mobility. She always adapts her classes to the needs and level of her students, and encourages everyone to explore their inner sensations rather than focusing on the form or aesthetic aspect of the practice.

Location

The lush, green island of Lesbos, also known as Mytilene, is the third largest island in Greece. Still relatively untouched by mass tourism, Lesbos is the ideal place to visit if you want to experience an authentic Greek experience.

With its rich local cuisine, beautiful beaches, pine and broadleaf forests, rivers, and over a million olive trees, Lesbos has been a source of inspiration for countless writers, musicians, artists, and philosophers such as Aristotle, the father of biology, Theophrastus, the first botanist, Arion the guitarist, and Sappho, the first lyric poet.

Housing

The retreat will take place at Villa Daphnis & Chloé, a haven of peace nestled between olive groves and the sea. This charming century-old residence, meticulously restored in 2010, offers modern amenities and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, evoking the tranquility of a small monastery. Its intimate layout fosters a familial and friendly ambiance, creating the ideal place to rejuvenate.

The villa also features various indoor and outdoor spaces for yoga practice, including an open-air theater, an indoor practice room, and a spacious garden with views of the Aegean Sea.
